The Central Criminal Police suspect three individuals and one company. They used insider information to purchase shares. This resulted in 130,000 euros of illegal profit.
One of the suspects is the former CEO of Enefit Green, Aavo Kärmas. He did not respond to ERR's calls. The suspicion concerns the purchase of shares before the announcement of a takeover bid.
The company under suspicion is Glassinvest OÜ. The suspicion was also presented to its board member, Rain Luik. The owner of Glassinvest is Piret Pärna, who was not presented with any suspicion.
The CEO of Elering, Kalle Kilk, stated that the company is not involved in Enefit Green's share transactions. He learned about the suspicion from the media. Kilk emphasized that Elering has no knowledge of other companies' share transactions.
The police interviewed the suspects, but no one was arrested. Among those suspected are neither the management of Enefit Green nor Eesti Energia.
The head of the Central Criminal Police, Ivo Raudheiding, said that the stock market must be fair. If the suspicions are proven, someone misused state funds unfairly.
Eesti Energia repurchased Enefit Green shares in May. Shareholders were able to sell their shares at a price of 3.4 euros per share.
