Oleg Bessedin is suspected in two criminal cases. He is accused of violating international sanctions and anti-state activities.
Prosecutor General Taavi Pern stated that Bessedin's activities on YouTube were often related to the Russian Federation. According to him, this cooperation was connected to Russian influence operations and was not coincidental.
On November 4th, the Estonian Internal Security Service arrested Oleg Bessedin. He is known as a Kremlin-aligned propagandist. He is suspected of anti-Estonian activities and violation of sanctions.
According to the Prosecutor's Office, Bessedin collaborated with Russian special services since 2022. He participated in Russia’s information influence operations.
Bessedin is also suspected of disseminating content from sanctioned Russian media channels. This constitutes a crime against peace and a violation of EU sanctions.
The Internal Security Service is conducting a pre-trial investigation. The Prosecutor’s Office is leading the process.
