Special committee wants to see correspondence regarding Datasel contract

Erikomisjon tahab näha kõiki kirju, mis näitavad, kuidas algas suhe ga Datasel ja Türgi ettevõtega ARCA Defence. Komisjoni esimees Anastassia Kovalenko-Kõlvart ütles, et nad uuringuks.

The special committee wants to see all correspondence showing how the relationship with Indian company Datasel and Turkish company ARCA Defence began. Committee chair Anastassia Kovalenko-Kõlvart said they need these documents for the investigation.

The special committee decided to request all correspondence from the Ministry of Defense and the Center for Defence Investments (RKIK). This will help them understand how the contracts were concluded. Kovalenko-Kõlvart said they need to see how the contact started and how the communication continued.

RKIK had previously stated that collecting the correspondence is difficult and it might not be significant. However, the special committee believes it is important. Therefore, they decided to request the documents. They have until October 12th to respond.

Kovalenko-Kõlvart also mentioned there might be other issues with these contracts. She asked whether there could be criminal activity if false information was given to the parliament. She said the state budget stated there were no risks, although in reality risks did exist.

RKIK signed a contract with Datasel in 2024 for purchasing ammunition for Ukraine. The contract was worth approximately 70 million euros. RKIK paid a substantial prepayment, but the ammunition was never received. The company had no prior experience selling ammunition and only made empty promises.
