The Ministry of Education and Research (HTM) increased employees' salaries. This started on May 1st. The salary increase applied to employees in the state schools and assets department. The ministry is not implementing a blanket salary increase for officials.
Officials' salaries are now between 3000 and 4290 euros. The highest salary is that of the department head. HTM salaries have been declining in recent years. In 2024, HTM was at the bottom of the salary comparison. However, the ministry is not implementing a blanket salary increase.
Starting from May 1st, salaries were increased for those whose pay had fallen behind over the years. Also for those whose job responsibilities have significantly changed. This was stated by Chancellor Triin Laasi-Õige.
In March, the Minister of Education and Research, Kristina Kallas, said that officials deserve a salary increase. She said that she had been hesitant and had not raised salaries. But people cannot endure this situation for so long.
