Prime Minister Kristen Michal stated that Estonia is an ally of the United States. However, this does not mean that Estonia follows the MAGA ideology of US President Donald Trump. Michal said that MAGA ideology is visible in Estonia in the policies of Isamaa, EKRE, and the Center Party.
Michal explained that relations between Estonia and the USA are good. Estonia is valued in the USA. However, Estonia does not adopt all US messages. For example, freedom of speech is better in Estonia than in the USA. Estonia also does not support conservative US views on women's rights.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the Reform Party is Western-oriented. It supports a strong Europe and good relations with the USA. However, MAGA ideology is not supported. It is not popular in Estonia or Europe.
Michal said that security relations between Estonia and the USA are good. Estonia is ready to help the USA if needed. For example, on the issue of Iran, Estonia is in constant communication with the USA and other countries.
The Prime Minister recalled that US President Trump promised to protect the Baltic countries and Poland. This shows that the USA supports NATO allies. Estonia provides security to its allies and is ready to help them.
When asked about international law, Michal replied that it is a complex topic. He believes that law does not lose its importance. However, major powers often seek broader support for their actions.
Michal supports regime change in Venezuela and Iran. He believes that such operations should be justified. If they help reduce Putin's influence, that is good. However, ideally, broader consensus should be sought before taking such steps.
