Elering wants to protect substations. They are placing transformers in concrete. This protects the transformers.
Substations are important. If a substation breaks down, there will be no electricity. For example, the Viru substation is near Auvere. If a drone hits the substation, it will be a problem.
Martin Herem said that substations are vulnerable. He suggested moving substations underground. But that is expensive.
Hannes Kont said that building underground costs a lot. Protection with concrete costs less.
Elering will protect some substations within four years. They are placing transformers in concrete. The transformer is the heart of the substation. If the transformer breaks down, the substation won't work.
Elering is spending money to protect the power grid. The money will be allocated by 2029.
Eesti Energia does not talk about how they will protect the new station. The new station will come to Auvere in two years.
