The European Commission has proposed a new budget for 2028–2034. Part of the new budget is the European Fund. Estonia will receive 6.5 billion euros from this fund. 75% of this money must be used by the end of next year.
The Ministry of Finance has developed plans for how to use the funds. The plans cover various areas, such as cohesion, agriculture, and security. Seminars discussed Estonia's situation and identified possible solutions.
A total of 50 applications were submitted, with a total cost of 13.3 billion euros. The aim of the applications is to strengthen Estonia's economy, support the digitalization of businesses, and develop clean technologies.
Among the applications are investments in developing the digital state, improving security, and enhancing the quality of education. Funding is also sought for healthcare, the environment, and regional development.
The applications are currently being analyzed and will be published soon. The Ministry of Finance is organizing seminars and meetings to discuss the applications. Final decisions will be made in August, and negotiations with the European Commission will be concluded by December next year.
