Reform Party leader Õnne Pillak spoke to ERR. She said that Ülle Madis's name has often come up in discussions about presidential candidacy. According to Pillak, many Reform Party members would support Madis. But first, Madis herself must be asked whether she even wants to run.
Pillak said: "Ülle Madis would be a very good candidate. Her work is honest and fair. She has a lot of knowledge and experience. Society respects her. I believe the Reform Party would support her."
Pillak added that Madis should have time to think. She must decide whether she wants to run for president. "I hope she decides positively," said Pillak.
In the Reform Party, Madis is often talked about. Her name comes up frequently because she has many supporters.
Pillak praised the Social Democrats. They proposed Madis's name early. This gives people time to think. "The more names that are mentioned, the better. People can think along," said Pillak.
The Social Democrats proposed Madis's name to other parties on Wednesday. Later, Eesti 200 also said it supports Madis.
