A Riigikogu advisor was dismissed as a result of disciplinary proceedings. The reason was an error in the draft gambling tax law.
The Isamaa party issued a press release discussing the incident. Finance Committee member Aivar Kokk said the advisor was very hardworking and experienced. Kokk criticized the Reform Party and Eesti 200 for shifting blame to the advisor.
Kokk added that politicians tried to find excuses to avoid their own mistakes. He said politicians are accustomed to shifting blame.
Riigikogu Chancellery Director Antero Habicht said violations were found in the advisor's work. Habicht emphasized that the dismissal was justified and not a political decision.
Eesti Ekspress wrote that the advisor warned in November about the speed of the online casino draft. In February, it became clear that the flawed law would deprive the state of four million euros in tax revenue.
