There was a public competition for selecting ERR board members. Forty people applied for the competition. Each position was contested by 14 individuals.
Among the candidates were various experts, including specialists in communication, culture, and media fields.
In the summer, the Riigikogu passed a new law. According to it, the ERR board should have more experts than politicians.
Currently, there are four experts and six politicians on the board. The experts include Paavo Nõgene, Raul Rebane, Rein Veidemann, and Sulev Valner. Valner serves as the board's chairman.
The politicians on the ERR board represent various political parties.
When the new members begin work, the board will have seven experts. This will help make ERR's work more independent.
The Cultural Committee includes four coalition representatives. They are from the Reform Party, Eesti 200, Social Democratic Party, Isamaa, Center Party, and EKRE.
