The chairman of Vabaerakond, Märt Meesak, says that Tallinn is too politicized. This is not beneficial for the city's residents.
The problem with Tallinn is that it is where all of Estonia's major politics converge. The latest example was the squirrel issue, which went completely wrong. Meesak feels sorry for Tallinn residents because during the elections, there is more talk about national politics than about the city's problems.
Vabaerakond has one candidate in each district of Tallinn. The list includes both medical workers and entrepreneurs. The top candidate, Tiiu Kuurme, aligns well with the party's message.
Meesak says that politicians today need good education more than ever. Tiiu Kuurme's long-term experience is very important. She helps politicians behave better and understand the city's problems more deeply.
Meesak believes that the strong-arm tactics of politicians must be stopped. The police should serve the people again. Vabaerakond gives voters the opportunity to choose someone outside the system. This is a good protest against mainstream parties.
In Tartu, the mayoral candidate is Vahur Kollom. The candidate for the council chairman is Indrek Särg. More than 20 Tartu residents are running on the list.
Kollom says that every candidate deserves attention. They are active and brave people who want change in Tartu and Estonia. The policies of mainstream parties are leading us in the wrong direction.
Indrek Särg believes that Tartu's development has stalled. The city government has become distant from the people. Traffic management and the education network are problems that are not being properly addressed. Ordinary citizens are not listened to enough.
Särg says that the city should be led by free citizens. Officials should carry out their decisions.
