Hartman: Offense is Inappropriate in Politics, Goals Must Be Achieved
Sotsiaaldemokraatliku Erakonna peasekretär Piret Hartman rõhutas, et poliitikas ei ole koht solvumisele. Kuigi Keskerakond on välistanud koostöö sotsiaaldemokraatidega Tallinnas, soovid sotsid ikkagi koostööd teha.
The Secretary-General of the Social Democratic Party, Piret Hartman, emphasized that there is no place for offense in politics. Although the Center Party has ruled out cooperation with the Social Democrats in Tallinn, the Social Democrats still wish to collaborate.
The Secretary-General of the Social Democrats, Piret Hartman, said in an interview with ERR that the Social Democrats will not let offense influence them. Although the Center Party does not want to cooperate with the Social Democrats, the Social Democrats are ready for cooperation and do not hold a grudge against the Reform Party.
Hartman also spoke about preparations for the local elections. Currently, the compilation of lists and preparation of the program are underway. She could not yet say exactly what the election budget is, but work on it will begin starting May 1st.
The election slogan is still in the works, but it is being developed in cooperation with the party's board and will be announced after approval by the general assembly.
In Tallinn, the candidate for mayor is likely to be Jevgeni Ossinovski. In other cities, there are no clear names yet, but the Social Democrats are working with regional organizations to prepare.
The goal of the Social Democrats is to get their lists out in at least half of the municipalities. However, in some regions, cooperation with electoral alliances is possible. For example, in Pärnu, this option is in the air.
Pärnu County has been a complex region, but the Social Democrats are actively working there. In Narva, Katri Raik plays an important role as a strong Social Democrat candidate.
The Social Democrats are also trying to get their lists out in Ida-Viru County, but in Narva, Katri Raik is running with an electoral alliance. She has said that she may decide separately.
On Saaremaa, the situation for the Social Democrats is good, with Madis Kallas as a strong candidate. The party leader's candidacy is not yet certain.
In Tallinn, the Social Democrats want to win the elections. They have brought about many changes in the city and believe in their strong position. Although the Center Party does not want cooperation, the Social Democrats do not rule it out. There is still a lot of time until the elections, and much can happen.
Hartman emphasized that offense is inappropriate in politics. The important thing is to achieve one's goals. The Social Democrats do not rule out cooperation with the Reform Party at the national level.
Cooperation with EKRE is difficult because there are different understandings on fundamental issues. The final decision will be made by the party's board and council.
Hartman also commented on the work of former regional minister Hendrik Terras. She wishes the new minister success and is ready to offer advice, but does not support reversing decisions.
