On Thursday, there were many police officers around ERR. PPA and ERR conducted a surprise attack drill together. The police practiced how to respond if ERR is attacked.
PPA special units practiced resolving a surprise attack and hostage situation. Participants included patrol officers, rapid responders, negotiators, and K-Komando.
Virko Luide, head of the PPA Crisis Preparedness Bureau, said that the police and ERR work together. The police can practice actions in case of a surprise attack. They also teach ERR employees how to behave during an attack and how to make the building more secure.
This drill is part of the large national defense exercise ILVES 2026. Over 150 organizations are participating. The main exercise will take place from June 8 to 12, 2026.
