Kiili said that Kristen Michal was a good person. But he was not a strong leader. The role of prime minister is more of a manager than a leader.
Kiili believed that Estonia needs a strong leader. This is especially important since we have a hostile neighbor. He said that Michal lacks a clear vision for the future.
Kiili also criticized decision-making. He said that long-term effects are not analyzed sufficiently.
Regarding the presidential elections, Kiili said that it is more of a competition for top officials. He does not know if he will support Ülle Madis. He wants to know her positions first.
Kiili left the Reform Party because his and the party's views were too different. He particularly did not like the justifications for the Swedish prison agreement.
Kiili does not know if he will join another party. He wants to continue working on national defense. If this does not succeed, he may leave politics.
Regarding the state budget, Kiili will decide later. He will ask experts for advice and analyze the budget.
In the National Defense Committee, it is not important where people belong. The important thing is the opinion of experts.
Meelis Kiili joined the Reform Party in 2022. He was elected to the Riigikogu with 1289 votes.
