Deputy Chairman of the Social Democratic Party and Tallinn mayoral candidate Jevgeni Ossinovski said he has proposed to Isamaa, the Reform Party, and the Conservative People's Party to start coalition talks. He stated that the majority of Tallinn voters do not wish for the Center Party to return to power in the city.
Ossinovski stated that there is a moral obligation to start negotiations for forming a new power coalition. He said that the Social Democrats have made a proposal to the three parties to begin coalition talks. He believes that the four parties can reach an agreement and collaborate.
Ossinovski mentioned that he has already communicated with all the parties. He said that the proposal does not come as a surprise. He added that coalition talks could start as soon as possible.
When asked who might hold the position of mayor, Ossinovski said it could belong to the Social Democrats. He noted that the Social Democrats received the highest support among the four parties. He said they aim to form a coalition, but other positions will be discussed once negotiations begin.
The Isamaa party is currently holding a regional meeting in Tallinn. The Conservative People's Party will provide an overview of their positions and objectives in Tallinn in a few hours.
