In Põltsamaa municipality, a coalition was formed by Isamaa, Uued Tuuled, EKRE, Reform Party, and the Centre Party. The new power coalition holds 12 mandates out of 21 in the council.
The candidate for municipality mayor, Taavi Aas, says there is much agreement within the coalition. For example, all agree that wind turbines or wind farms will not be built in Põltsamaa. There is also a desire to establish a state gymnasium in Põltsamaa. Aas said: "Gymnasium education must remain in Põltsamaa. Now is the opportunity to start talking about establishing a state gymnasium."
The construction of a new swimming pool is also planned. The state has allocated 2.8 million euros for this, and the municipality must add 1.2 million euros. The swimming pool will likely be built near the Kuningamäe health trails.
The official election of the municipality mayor will take place on December 11th. At the first session of the municipal council, Reet Alev was elected as chairperson. She said her goal is to maintain good cooperation between both the coalition and the opposition.
The announcement of the election results took longer than usual. Taavi Aas said that much time has passed since the elections, and the council must meet quickly. However, this will not affect the adoption of next year's budget, as the budget is usually adopted only in February.
