On May 14, the Defense Forces Will Activate an Air Alert During Siil and the Rescue Board Will Send an SMS
14. mail kell 15 käivitab kaitsevägi õppusel Siil ohuteavituse süsteemi. Seda testitakse esmakordselt kogu Eestis. Sireenid kõlavad 22 asulas. Käivitamist kasutatakse ainult harjutamiseks.
On May 14 at 3 PM, the Estonian Defense Forces will activate the emergency alert system during the Siil exercise. This will be tested for the first time across Estonia. Sirens will sound in 22 settlements. The activation is for practice purposes only.
The Defense Forces and the Rescue Board say this is an exercise. It is not a real emergency.
When the emergency alert is activated, people will receive a test message via the mobile apps 'Ole valmis!' and 'Eesti äpp'. An SMS will also be sent, and information will be shown on ERR TV channels and the website. Additionally, sirens will sound in 22 settlements.
The state will provide additional information on the website kriis.ee and by phone at 1247. Instructions will also be shared in the media and on social media.
The Air Force Commander says that the exercise is important. It helps the Defense Forces understand how information spreads. The emergency alert gives people a clear understanding of what to do in a real situation.
The Director General of the Rescue Board says that the emergency alert system is important. It provides quick information when people's lives or national security are at risk.
On May 14, an SMS test message will be sent to all phones in Estonia. The sender will be EE-ALARM or the number +372 5950 0000. The message will also include a feedback link.
The sirens will activate at 3 PM and sound for about four and a half minutes. To prepare, download the mobile apps 'Ole valmis!' and 'Eesti äpp'. Also, check your language preference in your mobile operator's self-service portal.
Inform your family and friends about the emergency alert exercise. Check if you received the test message in your preferred language. Use the website www.olevalmis.ee or the app 'Ole valmis!' for more information.
