Eesti 200 chair Kristina Kallas says the government should not make family benefits needs-based. This would save 100 million euros annually but violate coalition agreements.
Social Minister Karmen Joller said the 100 million savings would not materialize. Kallas does not understand Joller's words and says this was not discussed in the coalition.
Kallas states that if 100 million is returned, the budget deficit will increase by over 4.5 percent. Eesti 200 wants the state to be closer to people and support those truly in need.
Kallas disagrees with Joller's argument that databases don't allow changing benefits. She says Estonia is a digital nation and should be able to use data smartly.
The Reform Party and Eesti 200 have agreed to develop needs-based benefits. The deadline is the first quarter of 2027.
