Politicians Talk About Bureaucracy and the Economy
Poliitikud arutasid, kuidas vähendada bürokraatiat ja muuta Eesti riiki efektiivsemaks.
Politicians discussed how to reduce bureaucracy and make Estonia more efficient.
The council operating under the Government Office gathered 450 proposals to improve the country's economy. The proposals cover planning, corporate reporting, and EU rights.
Liisa Pakosta (Eesti 200) said that now is the right time to make such proposals. She added that entrepreneurs are concerned because there are too many regulations.
Tanel Kiik (SDE) said that the council is like a valve that helps reduce tension. He mentioned that people need stability, but five governments in four years do not provide it.
Maris Lauri (Reform Party) emphasized that the council's goal is to make things better. She said that the signals coming from people are important.
Aivar Kokk (Isamaa) found that bureaucracy is growing due to both politicians and officials. He said that people do not believe in savings because taxes are rising.
Lauri Laats (Center Party) said that collecting ideas from entrepreneurs is nothing new. He added that the current government lacks a long-term vision and society does not trust it.
Rene Kokk (EKRE) said that the Reform Party created the problem and is now trying to solve it with PR. He said that previously, changes were not heard, but he hopes it will be different this time.
Maris Lauri said that one must learn from mistakes. Tanel Kiik asked if other parties forced the Reform Party to increase bureaucracy. He said that people see through the government.
Liisa Pakosta said that entrepreneurs have submitted many proposals, which shows their trust. Aivar Kokk recalled that during the corona period, the government made quick decisions. Now, however, taxes are too high.
Lauri Laats said that flexibility and quick decisions are needed. He said that bureaucracy must be stopped.
Liisa Pakosta said that Estonia has often remained silent when it should have spoken. Tanel Kiik agreed that Estonia should engage more actively with European rights.
Maris Lauri said that politicians should work more with materials. Rene Kokk said that the problem lies in the coalition agreements. Liisa Pakosta said that the government has considered the proposals.
