The first Rail Baltica stop will be built in Kurtna this year. Trains will start running from there in about six years.
The platform is 115 meters long. There are also longer platforms, 210 meters. These are for international and Elron trains. Rail Baltica manager Lauri Ulm said that passengers will be able to cross the tracks using lifts or tunnels.
The railroad and stops are being built simultaneously. Lauri Ulm said that when the railroad is ready, the stops will also be usable. This will happen in 2032. Trains will begin test runs at the end of 2030.
Elron train plans are still unknown. Anna Lutter, who lives in Kurtna, has mixed feelings about Rail Baltica. The railroad will pass through her ancestors' lands. However, her accommodation center provides work and benefits to locals.
Anna Lutter bought the accommodation center not because of Rail Baltica, but because she is from there. The new railway may make the area more interesting, but locals also love the old railway.
Anna Lutter hopes that the new railway will bring benefits. She wants all investments to bear fruit and for trains to start running.
