The Estonian Museum of Natural History planned to create a new permanent exhibition. The first tender failed as no suitable proposals were received. Now a new tender has been announced with a budget of three million euros.
Egle Hecht, acting director of the museum, said: "This is a very large tender for Estonia's museum landscape. Providers should come both from Estonia and abroad."
The goal of the tender is to find a contractor to design the new permanent exhibition. The total cost of the tender is 2,812,950 euros. The previous tender failed because the three submitted bids were not suitable.
Hecht explained: "Bidders made mistakes because they didn't understand the tender conditions correctly. In the new tender, we aim to avoid such mistakes."
As a result of the tender, a Dutch company designed the exhibition "The Art of Coexistence". This exhibition brings something completely new and special that hasn't been seen in Estonia before.
Hecht said: "The new exhibition is larger and more special than previous ones. It tells the story of nature and human coexistence. The exhibition is suitable for all age groups."
In addition to the permanent exhibition, the museum plans to create an exhibition for small children. There, children can explore and discover nature without fear of doing something wrong.
The Natural History Museum will fully open in 2028. The children's exhibition will open in 2027 along with the first temporary exhibition.
Hecht said: "The completion of the museum building will give us the opportunity to start building the exhibition."
The deadline for submitting bids is November 23. The project is funded by European Union funds.
