Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said that Ukrainian President Zelensky definitely wants to participate in the conference taking place in Tallinn.
Tsahkna said that Zelensky signed the invitations together with the Estonian Prime Minister. He wants to participate in the conference together with other world leaders.
The conference will be held at the level of world leaders. Zelensky has invited leaders to Tallinn. Tsahkna said there is now no doubt that the conference will take place.
Tsahkna said that currently Ukrainians do not know what situation Ukraine will be in by the end of January. The goal is to do everything so that leaders can come to the conference.
A lot can change in three months. But for now the plans are clear. Tsahkna hopes that the situation in Ukraine will not be too difficult.
The main purpose of the conference is to find money for Ukraine. Tsahkna said they are talking about billions here, not millions. Results are needed.
Tsahkna said they hope that Zelensky will personally come to the conference. If he cannot come, it will show that the situation is very difficult.
If Zelensky cannot come, it may help leaders to contribute more. It would show that the situation is more serious.
The media has speculated that the Ukrainian leadership may not come to Estonia by the end of January. The war winter may make travel difficult.
The Ukraine reconstruction conference will take place in Tallinn on January 28-29.
