Estonia is purchasing three new HIMARS rocket launchers from the USA. These will help the Estonian Defense Forces and NATO to protect Estonia. The contract was signed by the Estonian Center for Defense Investments and the US company Lockheed Martin.
Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur says that these rocket launchers will provide Estonia with strong defense. This also supports Estonia’s defense industry. Lockheed Martin is investing nearly $11 million in Estonia.
Last year, the first six HIMARS rocket launchers arrived in Estonia. The new three will arrive in 2027. They are fast and precise, capable of firing rockets up to 300 km.
Lockheed Martin will also assist Estonian companies. They aim to establish a HIMARS maintenance center in Estonia. This will provide work for local companies.
In addition, Estonia is purchasing more rocket launchers from South Korea. These will arrive by the end of 2027. Similar machines are already in Lithuania and Latvia.
