The Rescue Board compiled a list for companies to fulfill. They will send a summary with requirements and actions that must be followed.
Deficiencies were found in 35 companies. Safety documents, fire safety, staff knowledge, and emergency plans were checked. Most deficiencies were in documentation and training.
Gas installations in some companies were open and accessible. Trees and bushes were also too close. Fire extinguishers were either unchecked or missing. In five facilities, there was no water intake point.
Liquefied gas is used for heating, agriculture, and as vehicle fuel. There are about 130 companies in Estonia dealing with flammable gas.
On September 6th, the lower limit for hazardous gas was raised. The Rescue Board emphasizes that safety requirements must always be met.
The positive aspect was that all companies had an emergency plan. Mostly, they inform the public by phone.
