Currently, you have to wait ten years to rejoin the second pillar. The new law allows rejoining after five years. Many people left the second pillar after it became voluntary in 2021.
These people can rejoin starting from 2027. Whether you can start making contributions from January or May 2027 will be clarified later.
If you do not wish to rejoin immediately, you can do so later. If you rejoin, you must accumulate money until retirement. Saving for retirement takes time but helps grow your funds.
Those already in the second pillar have the right to leave if needed. Previously, the rule was that you had to withdraw all your money before retirement age. Now you can withdraw only a portion of the money. The remainder stays in the pillar to grow.
With a partial withdrawal, you cannot make new contributions for the next five years. If you wish to make contributions again, you must save until retirement.
To ensure the stability of the pension system, changes are being made to the law. This gives people confidence that the system's financing will not be changed quickly.
Over 580,000 people use the second pension pillar. The new law will take effect on July 1, 2027. Partial withdrawals will be possible starting from 2028, as IT developments take time.
