The Security Police (KAPO) says that the burning of the Milrem building on the night of August 14th was ordered by Russia. Prime Minister Kristen Michal stated that they are certain of this.
The investigation is still ongoing, but initial data indicates that it was a commissioned job. The suspects in the arson have been detained and are no longer dangerous.
KAPO director Margo Palloson said that Russia often engages in provocations and sabotage. He stated that Russia attempts to recruit people in Europe to carry out sabotage. This is particularly dangerous for Ukraine supporters and defense companies. Palloson advised them to strengthen their security measures.
Palloson added that Estonia is monitoring Russia's activities and cooperating with other countries. He said that Estonia is safe and they want it to remain so.
Prime Minister Michal stated that this is part of Russia's plan to intimidate Europe. He said that Russia wants Europe to support Ukraine less. Estonia is ready to stand against this.
On the night of August 14th, the Milrem building in Lasnamäe burned. Rescue forces quickly extinguished the fire. No one was injured. On August 17th, two suspects were arrested in Latvia, and on August 18th, a third. Latvian police confiscated items from them that could have been used in the arson.
From September 17th to 18th, three suspects were handed over to Estonia. Milrem Robotics produces unmanned vehicles for Ukraine in cooperation with the European Union.
