One woman, named Triin, shares her experience. She had implants installed 14 years ago. The doctor chose implants manufactured by Allergan. They were very popular at that time.
In 2019, these implants were banned worldwide because they could cause a rare type of cancer. Patients in Estonia were not informed. Triin found out that her implants were dangerous only when she went for a check-up.
There are many women in Estonia who may have these implants. However, the exact number is unknown because there is no official statistics. Doctors say there could be hundreds of thousands of women.
The state does not know who is using these implants. Clinics should have informed patients, but they did not. Now, many women are worried about their health.
Fortunately, Triin was not diagnosed with cancer, but she needs to replace her implants. She wants to know why she was not informed earlier. Other women in the same situation are also worried.
