At the Võru City Council meeting, a letter was submitted. The letter proposes to distrust Mayor Kalvi Kõva. Coalition partners also agree with the motion of no confidence.
13 council members from the coalition signed the motion of no confidence. Both the Centre Party and the Reform Party signed the letter. Council Chairman Urmas Tali said that the previous coalition can no longer be discussed.
Tali said that many things could be done better. Currently, a large majority supports the new coalition. This provides an opportunity to listen more to the city's residents.
Mayor Kalvi Kõva has great authority. He has led the city well. However, Tali said that Kõva's leadership style influenced the decision. His authoritarian leadership style was a problem.
Tali said that cooperation with the mayor was not good. The current coalition was not something that could continue. Tali emphasized that the focus is on local issues.
The new coalition consists of Isamaa, EKRE, the Reform Party, and the Centre Party. Mayor Kalvi Kõva said that criticism of his authoritarian leadership style is exaggerated.
Kõva said that there are many committees in Võru. The mayor actively participates in them. Kõva believes that the reasons for the no-confidence motion are political.
The vote of no confidence will take place next Monday. Previously, the coalition in the Võru City Council consisted of the Social Democrats, the Centre Party, and the Reform Party. The new coalition includes all parties except the Social Democrats.
