Political scientist Tõnis Saarts estimates that the change of government will not bring a quick popularity boost to the Reform Party and Eesti 200. Local candidates matter more in local elections.
On Saturday, the Reform Party and Eesti 200 introduced new ministers. The chairman of the Social Democrats, Lauri Läänemets, said he would like to see more experts in the government. He mentioned that experts in economics and finance would give the government credibility.
Läänemets also emphasized the need for changes in security matters. He recommended increasing the number of police officers and acquiring the necessary equipment. This is necessary due to Russia's actions.
The chairman of the Center Party, Mihhail Kõlvart, said that the changes in the government will not bring significant changes. He added that the new ministers will not get 100 days without opposition criticism. Kõlvart rhetorically asked whether the Reform Party plans to change ministers every three months.
Political scientist Tõnis Saarts said that the change of government will not bring quick success in local elections. He believed that in local elections, the quality of candidates and their municipal political skills matter more.
Saarts believed that the Reform Party and Eesti 200 will not experience a rapid increase in popularity. He said that the Reform Party is in a historical low, and it will take time to recover. The change of government may be a small step, but not a major breakthrough.
