President Alar Karis awarded Krista Zibo, director of the office, a bonus of 11,200 euros. This bonus was for good work in 2026.
On January 29, Karis set Zibo's basic salary at 6,010 euros per month. Previously, her salary was 5,500 euros. On September 2, 2024, she took office and her salary was 5,000 euros.
On November 24, 2025, Karis decided to pay Zibo a bonus of 10,500 euros. The bonus was also for good work. Zibo was the director of the office for almost two years under a fixed-term contract.
Since July 1, 2023, Zibo has been the director of the office indefinitely. This was a few months before the new president took office.
ERR asked in September why the contract was only changed now. The office replied that Zibo needs to ensure the stability of the office until the end of Karis's term and during the presidential transition.
In two years, Zibo laid off 13 people from the office. Two employees had their last working day a month before the new president took office. One of them had worked in the office for 26 years, the other for 19 years.
Zibo said the changes are necessary to save money and improve work organization.
During the last two years, eight people were hired in the office. This was necessary because job roles and processes changed.
The new president, Ülle Madis, proposed to appoint Paavo Nõgene as director of the office. He is a long-term top manager.
