Member of the Riigikogu Tanel Tein (Eesti 200) says that an error occurred in the gambling tax law because four different laws were processed simultaneously. This error exempted providers of remote gambling from taxation.
Tanel Tein has submitted a bill to the Riigikogu that will correct this error and restore clarity in the taxation of remote gambling. This will help avoid a situation where the state and the fields of culture and sports are left without funding.
Tein explained that the error arose because, due to the simultaneous amendment of four laws, no one paid attention to the wording, which caused confusion. This wording was not a problem during the first reading, which is why it was not investigated later.
Currently, work is being done to correct this issue to ensure that casinos pay their taxes and the state receives the necessary funds. Tein hopes that this solution will quickly find its way, and the fields of culture and sports will receive the necessary funding.
