Valimistel osaleb 11 erakonda, 159 valimisliitu ja 67 üksikkandidaati. Erakondade nimekirjades on 6260 inimest. Valimisliitude nimekirjades on 3348 inimest.
Kandideerijate seas on mehi 6023 ja naisi 3652. Keskmine vanus on 51 aastat.
Kandidaat saab kolm päeva pärast registreerimist loobuda kandideerimisest. Valla ja linna valimiskomisjonid saavad tühistada kandidaatide registreerimisotsuse. Nad saavad registreerida ununenud inimesi kuni 6. oktoobrini. Sellest päevast ei saa nimekirju muuta.

Kandideerida saavad Eesti ja Euroopa Liidu kodanikud. Nad peavad olema vähemalt 18-aastased. Elukoht peab olema registreeritud samas kohas, kus nad soovivad kandideerida. Kandidaat saab korraga kandideerida vaid ühes valimisringkonnas.

Estonia is holding local elections soon. 9,675 candidates are participating. This is slightly fewer than four years ago.
The head of the State Electoral Office, Arne Koitmäe, told ERR that one-third of the candidates are on the lists of electoral alliances. Two-thirds are on party lists. About 3,300 candidates are on electoral alliance lists. The rest are on party lists. There are 67 independent candidates.
The Electoral Commission has received three complaints. The complaints concern the registration of residence. Koitmäe said the complaints relate to the candidate's place of residence and whether it is correct.
Four years ago, 10,025 people ran as candidates. That is 328 more than now.
The elections involve 11 parties, 159 electoral alliances, and 67 independent candidates. Party lists include 6,260 people. Electoral alliance lists include 3,348 people.
Among the candidates, there are 6,023 men and 3,652 women. The average age is 51.
A candidate can withdraw their candidacy three days after registration. Municipal and city electoral commissions can cancel candidates' registration decisions. They can register forgotten individuals until October 6. From that date, the lists cannot be changed.
The list of candidates is now available on the election website.
Estonian and European Union citizens can run as candidates. They must be at least 18 years old. Their place of residence must be registered in the same place where they wish to run. A candidate can only run in one electoral district at a time.
The local government council election week is from October 13 to October 19.
